A Millennial Generation's Call to Action: From the Ballot to the Budget!

TODAY... Tuesday, April 21st young people nationwide are calling their Senators to support the Obama budget. We voted in record turnout numbers not only to cast a vote for Obama, but also because we were passionate about issues that deeply affect us like making sure everyone has access to health care, that education is accessible and affordable to all and that there are green jobs that both decrease our dependence on energy and create real jobs in our communities that we sorely need. Now we are going from the Ballot to the Budget!

The racists aren't coming, because racism never left...

this started as a response to this diary, but I had so much on my mind, I thought it would be more appropriate as a response diary.

Still learning about this site. And unfortunately, the more I read from the recommended diaries, the less I become shocked about the lack of diversity represented on the site. Not just of ethnicity/race, but also that of opinion. Its like you are either for Clinton or against Obama. And it is that perspective (anti-Obama v. anti-Clinton), more so than any other, that is driving this unfortunate discussion of race and racism that exists in American politics, especially in the lefty blogosphere.

Karl Rove's connections to the imprisonment of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman

As many of you may know, former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman was convicted in 2006 on corruption charges, and he was sentenced to seven years in prison. However, even prior to this case, there is growing evidence that not only was this case contrived on political motives, but also part of a concerted effort to discredit him long before this case. This Sunday, CBS will air a 60 Minutes special showing how far Karl Rove went to discredit him in favor of one of his political allies, current Alabama Governor Bob Riley. Please read, recommend, and take action--more political indictments from the GOP are reportedly scheduled to take place in Alabama following the 60 Minutes special!
